Big Shoulders & Buffets

(December 24, 2011)
Hi everyone!! I'm posting this as soon as I can..3 days after the fact. I've been busy since Christmas Eve. I worked, then went to a fundraising dinner hosted by my church. It was so much fun. I love spending time with family and friends, especially for a good cause, and even MORE especially when there's food involved, YUM! *I"m secretly a foodie ;)*
I actually took pictures of my make-up for the night this time.
Just come Black Opal foundation in Mocha. My eyeshadow is an eye duo from E.L.F. lipstick is by Wet'n'Wild 506B.
My Hair is a twist out that I styled into an updo; inspired by Ms. Neecy of The Ivy Leage Clique.

Convicted Diva

(December 9, 2011)
I kinda love stripes..just a little bit. I bought this striped skirt last summer. The left is how I wore it for a party last Fall.
The right is how I wore it recently. It's ironic that I wore it over a year later with those same blue tights..and a black jacket. I shouldn't be surprised, though. I tend to repeat outfits, not necessarily articles of clothing. I was NOT thinking about that outfit when I got dressed this time, however.

Bringin the Thickness

(December 7, 2011)
Lol, yes..apparently I look thick in this outfit :p

Ugh, I'm SUCH a bright person ;) haha

(December 4, 2011)
This post is not about my intellectual prowess... ;).
Have you ever bought something after falling in love with it, then come home and thought, "Oh noooo, nothing goes with it!!" Well, that was the case with the gorgeous heels I wore for this post.
I bought them during a retail therapy session (sometimes you just need it..you just do). I bought the shoes and a very chic macro-printed floral top (I wore it..the outfit was NOT amazing lol).
As soon as I saw these, I knew they had to be mine. I clung to them for dear life and finally tried them on..*SIGH* umm, yes. Fit like a GLOVE! *would I say sock, since it's my foot?? I think that's the foot-equivalent of glove, right?*

Tribal Blues

(November 29, 2011)
This poor dress is a closet orphan..*tear* I probably have several, but they're all hiding. This particular one was given to me by my mommy (yes, I call my mother mommy..at home, at the store, at church, at school, on the phone..you get the point). She gave it to me this summer and it sat in my drawer for the longest time. Until one day I just needed something loose and comfy, so I wore it with a dark brown skinny belt (or else the empire waist gives you that preggo look) and dark brown, studded sandals.
This time..I wore it on purpose!
pictures in the car =]
I do this regularly..it's not strange at all, lol. I'm practicing for when I get home :p

Goodwill Hunting

(November 25, 2011)
I love thrifting, absolutely love it. The thrill of shopping is already awesome..but the excitement of finding something you saw and loved, trying it on and getting a perfect fit, THEN seeing it's for a low price THEEEENNN seeing it's 1/2 off. OMG!! It's almost too much, lol. Let me get to the point before I begin to hyperventilate from the memories.
Yesterday my cousins and I went to my aunt's house for rehearsal, we're performing a praise dance for an upcoming Christmas event at our church. Fast forward a few hours, practice was over and I hopped in the car with my sis, and my three cousins, one  of whom was Neecy of The Ivy League Clique check her out!! We were going to stop at Walgreens on the way home, but she suggested we stop in this wonderful Goodwill in the area..umm
best idea of the en-TIRE day.
So the five of us wander into the store, all the while I'm going on about how wonderful and store-like it looked on the outside..the sign lit up! Like a real sign..like a Target sign or something. I was impressed.
At first we walked together, exploring the territory,  but we eventually split off into our desired departments, half-heartedly hunting for goods while periodically yelling to each other when we found something nice that interested us or anyone in the group. The first find of the night was a pair of spikes (for track&field) that my sister found. She might do a post, check it out.
I got some great finds on this trip..completely unexpected. I usually have luck when thrifting, but everything I found was either vintage or vintage inspired, lasting classic pieces.
On to the pictures!!

Just another Oxford day

(November 14, 2011)
I don't have much to say about this look..honestly, I just threw it on and went to class. However, I did like it very much. So, here are some pics. Enjoy.
Ghana all day!

Gettin Schooled

(November, 13, 2011)
I have an announcement..I'm a tailor! Well..not really, but, I felt like one last week. I had this pleated skirt, a very nice skirt, but there was just too much of it. The length wasn't bad, but the high-waist of the skirt PLUS the length just threw my proportions off. Soooo, I decided to hem it..and succeeded; blind hem, starched and pressed. The whole shebang!! So yes, I was feeling myself. It looked so professional.
I took it up 4 inches. Previously, it was at the middle of my knee caps. I used a measuring tape and white chalk to mark the new hem, then pinned and ironed it down. This article was a huge help when it came to actually sewing it down. Since the original stitching was hidden, I wanted to have the same finish with the new hem. After ALL that..I ironed and starched each individual pleat..painstaking, but SO worth it. I felt very accomplished.

Lady in Red

(November 4, 2011)
I'm a lip gloss girl all the way. Drugstore brands, Victoria's Secret, Beauty  Supply Store (BSS) I love em all.
But, the day came when I decided to wear lip stick..literally wear it in not just try it on. That day came this summer. I bought a few lipsticks from CVS/Walgreen's/Walmart etc. but it turns out my summer skin doesn't go well with lipsticks lol. So, no that the seasons have changed, and my roasted cocoa bean complexion is back to "normal" I can wear the colors I bought in summer. Most of the colors I bought were various shades of brown-toned reds and burnt oranges, but those aren't the stars of this post.
P.S. these are the fluffed out twists :]

I mentioned in my previous post that I visited my cousin at her university. They had an event Friday night, and this is what I wore. My colors were black&white and red. I decided red lips would be PERFECT to pull everything together. I'm wearing NYC Ultra Moist Lipwear in Sheer Red.
I LOVED this outfit. If I hadn't forgotten to pack my strapless bra I would've taken pictures without my blazer..alas, it wasn't meant to be. Oh well, I'm sure I'll wear the dress again once winter hits :).
Apparently this was a very hot outfit, says my photographer (love ya Rich!) He did an awesome job.

What's in the Drawer?
Blazer: GAP (thrifted)
Dress: Forever21 (Plato's Closet)
Heels: Charlotte Russe
Tights: Target
Flower: from the cousin
Pearl Earrings: owned
Ring: DEB

Twisted Sista

(November 4, 2011)

PSA: This blog will now include posts about my hair..I honestly can't not talk about my hair, I love it so much!!
The End
Moving on..last week I visited my cousin/best friend/big sis at her university and decided to twist my hair; half because I wanted to do a mini length check, and half because I wanted to stretch my curls out a bit. I forgot to take pictures of the actual twists, buuuuut I did take pictures of the twists taken down, then fluffed out.

Can ya dig it?!

(November 2, 2011)
Tired...
Diva is back!! YES. My precious locks have been hiding underneath my braids for a few months, but now they're back and I'm so happy. The above picture was taken immediately after I finished taking down and detangling my hair. My fro was still pretty stretched out. I blew it out before getting it braided, and had washed it about 3 times while it was still braided. Hopefully I'll blow it out again and maybe straighten it just to do a length check. The last time I straightened my hair was April of this year. Crossing my fingers for substantial growth =].

Red&Camel..and Armani

(October 30, 2011)
I went to Saver's for the first time last week..and found this wonderful Armani Exchange vest. Umm, ya, I know. I'm happy! I wore it layered with that same button down, with dark jeans and grey fold-over boots. This look is more professional; the other had a casual feel to it, still cute, though.

Busy Bee

Hi everyone. So, I've been rather occupied lately. School and life aren't leaving me with much free time to post. However. I'll be posting tonight, and maybe Thursday. I'm currently on a thrifting binge, so I clothing haul from the past month will be up soon. I will also work on the post about ways to wear a square scarf very soon; Fall won't last forever. Alright, that's all for now. Thanks for reading!

I'm a Pirate!!!

(October 24, 2011)
Yes! I'm a pirate lol. This entire outfit happened in 5 minutes. I was getting dressed for school, put on my jeans, and thought.."I want to wear stripes!" The top is actually a dress, second time I've doubled a dress as a top in the past two weeks, and they're both striped. Threw on the jacket, then my scarf, the boots were the last addition, but they really pulled it all together. I didn't mean to look like a swashbuckler that day, but ehh, it happens I guess.

A little bit of culture

(October 23, 2011)

So, since I haven't mentioned it before, I'll say it now. I'm Ghanaian; I was born in Ghana, West Africa. That isn't a random statement, lol. The top I'm wearing for this outfit is part of a 3-piece ensemble my aunt had made for me on her last trip to Ghana. I love it! So pink and pretty ^_^. I'll likely wear the entire outfit at some point and post pics.

White After Labor Day ^_^

(October 21, 2011)
Shout-out to mirror pics!
This post is almost a week overdue. On Friday, I took my sister on our first trip to Plato's Closet. I ended up spending money I wasn't prepared to spend (life story of a shopaholic..but I'm in recovery ;] lol). Anyhow, my best friend met up with us; we had a ball.

I'm sorry for being bad

So..I've been lazy, lol. This past week, I didn't post any OOTDs because I didn't have time to take pictures. I did, however, wear some cute outfits; boots&cardi combo on Monday, nothing on Tuesday (bummy no class day lol); another boots&cardi combo on Wednesday, and Oxfords on Thursday. Outfits for Friday and Sunday are coming :). ALSO!!! "Ways to Wear a Square Scarf" is coming up, too ^_^.

It's a Man's World . .

(October 16, 2011)
Not really, but it's an appropriate title. I have ventured into the world of menswear inspired looks, thanks to the lovely Stephanie at Chocolate Laced. Ever since I saw her look for the 21 Day Challenge, I decided it was time for my wardrobe to experience a man-over.

Finally got to wear my socks ^_^

(October 14, 2011)
Hello loves! So two days ago I had a lazy day. Sorry ooo. lol that's my African coming out :p. Anyway, I literally stayed in all day wearing yoga pants, a tank, and sweater..smh. Oh well. Yesterday, however, I did errands with the BF =]. Annnnnd, I finally got to wear this pair of socks I bought a few yrs back.

Red Cheetah come before my forest . .

(October 12, 2011)
Hiiiii. So I loved this outfit. I've always adored cheetah print with red. It's such a vavavoom combo..when it's done right. It reminds me of Fran Fine from The Nanny lol.

For another day . .

(October 12, 2011)
Good morning Divas,
I had an amazing idea for an outfit today..sadly, it will not come to fruition. So, I may just post it tomorrow, even though I don't have much of anywhere going *sigh* ahh well =]. Back to the drawing board.

Rumpelstiltskin made me this top . . ;)

(October 11, 2011)
Not really..but this gold tone, loose-knit, high-low, dolman sleeve top (that was a mouthful) is very versatile. Originally, I paired it with a simple black jersey knit dress, but I changed my mind =p. The weather was unseasonably warm today, so it was a great outfit for doing my errands :).

I can't *cough cough* I'm sick . .

(October 11, 2011)
Good morning Divas,
I'm currently feeling under the weather..so I might not do an OOTD today =[. I might, though lol. Hopefully.

Sheer Genius

(October 10, 2011)
The star of this post iiissss..*drumroll*..my favorite, sheer tunic :). I snagged this lovely floral piece a few summers back, when I first decided that leggings were ok by me (that's another story, hmm). I used to wear it over leggings, a waist belt and cardi now and then, but it has since migrated to every season of my wardrobe, and I sure ain't mad about THAT! I wore this outfit on a day out with the sis♥.

Kinda nautical . . but nice ;)

(October 9, 2011)
Sunday night=movie night! (when there's a 3-day weekend) *btw, Real Steel, awesome movie!*
Annyyyhow..I was still drifting on my new-scarf-high, which I picked up Saturday afternoon, and wanted to use it SOMEHOW! A necktie was a bit too.. prep-school for the movies; belt it is! (ways to wear a square scarf..coming reeeaaalllyyyy soon ^_^).

Savvy Sunday

(October 9, 2011)
Hello Divas! So..this past Sunday, I decided to implement my new wardrobe staple, a square scarf *love*! I wanted a more studious look so I wore it as a necktie (coming soon: ways to wear a square scarf). I loved the primary color scheme; enjoy!

A new beginning..

Dear Divas
today will be the first day of my new blog..the unveiling is just around the corner. OOTD and OOTW will be coming soon ^_^.
