Goodwill Hunting

(November 25, 2011)
I love thrifting, absolutely love it. The thrill of shopping is already awesome..but the excitement of finding something you saw and loved, trying it on and getting a perfect fit, THEN seeing it's for a low price THEEEENNN seeing it's 1/2 off. OMG!! It's almost too much, lol. Let me get to the point before I begin to hyperventilate from the memories.
Yesterday my cousins and I went to my aunt's house for rehearsal, we're performing a praise dance for an upcoming Christmas event at our church. Fast forward a few hours, practice was over and I hopped in the car with my sis, and my three cousins, one  of whom was Neecy of The Ivy League Clique check her out!! We were going to stop at Walgreens on the way home, but she suggested we stop in this wonderful Goodwill in the area..umm
best idea of the en-TIRE day.
So the five of us wander into the store, all the while I'm going on about how wonderful and store-like it looked on the outside..the sign lit up! Like a real sign..like a Target sign or something. I was impressed.
At first we walked together, exploring the territory,  but we eventually split off into our desired departments, half-heartedly hunting for goods while periodically yelling to each other when we found something nice that interested us or anyone in the group. The first find of the night was a pair of spikes (for track&field) that my sister found. She might do a post, check it out.
I got some great finds on this trip..completely unexpected. I usually have luck when thrifting, but everything I found was either vintage or vintage inspired, lasting classic pieces.
On to the pictures!!

Just another Oxford day

(November 14, 2011)
I don't have much to say about this look..honestly, I just threw it on and went to class. However, I did like it very much. So, here are some pics. Enjoy.
Ghana all day!

Gettin Schooled

(November, 13, 2011)
I have an announcement..I'm a tailor! Well..not really, but, I felt like one last week. I had this pleated skirt, a very nice skirt, but there was just too much of it. The length wasn't bad, but the high-waist of the skirt PLUS the length just threw my proportions off. Soooo, I decided to hem it..and succeeded; blind hem, starched and pressed. The whole shebang!! So yes, I was feeling myself. It looked so professional.
I took it up 4 inches. Previously, it was at the middle of my knee caps. I used a measuring tape and white chalk to mark the new hem, then pinned and ironed it down. This article was a huge help when it came to actually sewing it down. Since the original stitching was hidden, I wanted to have the same finish with the new hem. After ALL that..I ironed and starched each individual pleat..painstaking, but SO worth it. I felt very accomplished.

Lady in Red

(November 4, 2011)
I'm a lip gloss girl all the way. Drugstore brands, Victoria's Secret, Beauty  Supply Store (BSS) I love em all.
But, the day came when I decided to wear lip stick..literally wear it in not just try it on. That day came this summer. I bought a few lipsticks from CVS/Walgreen's/Walmart etc. but it turns out my summer skin doesn't go well with lipsticks lol. So, no that the seasons have changed, and my roasted cocoa bean complexion is back to "normal" I can wear the colors I bought in summer. Most of the colors I bought were various shades of brown-toned reds and burnt oranges, but those aren't the stars of this post.
P.S. these are the fluffed out twists :]

I mentioned in my previous post that I visited my cousin at her university. They had an event Friday night, and this is what I wore. My colors were black&white and red. I decided red lips would be PERFECT to pull everything together. I'm wearing NYC Ultra Moist Lipwear in Sheer Red.
I LOVED this outfit. If I hadn't forgotten to pack my strapless bra I would've taken pictures without my blazer..alas, it wasn't meant to be. Oh well, I'm sure I'll wear the dress again once winter hits :).
Apparently this was a very hot outfit, says my photographer (love ya Rich!) He did an awesome job.

What's in the Drawer?
Blazer: GAP (thrifted)
Dress: Forever21 (Plato's Closet)
Heels: Charlotte Russe
Tights: Target
Flower: from the cousin
Pearl Earrings: owned
Ring: DEB

Twisted Sista

(November 4, 2011)

PSA: This blog will now include posts about my hair..I honestly can't not talk about my hair, I love it so much!!
The End
Moving on..last week I visited my cousin/best friend/big sis at her university and decided to twist my hair; half because I wanted to do a mini length check, and half because I wanted to stretch my curls out a bit. I forgot to take pictures of the actual twists, buuuuut I did take pictures of the twists taken down, then fluffed out.

Can ya dig it?!

(November 2, 2011)
Tired...
Diva is back!! YES. My precious locks have been hiding underneath my braids for a few months, but now they're back and I'm so happy. The above picture was taken immediately after I finished taking down and detangling my hair. My fro was still pretty stretched out. I blew it out before getting it braided, and had washed it about 3 times while it was still braided. Hopefully I'll blow it out again and maybe straighten it just to do a length check. The last time I straightened my hair was April of this year. Crossing my fingers for substantial growth =].

Red&Camel..and Armani

(October 30, 2011)
I went to Saver's for the first time last week..and found this wonderful Armani Exchange vest. Umm, ya, I know. I'm happy! I wore it layered with that same button down, with dark jeans and grey fold-over boots. This look is more professional; the other had a casual feel to it, still cute, though.

Busy Bee

Hi everyone. So, I've been rather occupied lately. School and life aren't leaving me with much free time to post. However. I'll be posting tonight, and maybe Thursday. I'm currently on a thrifting binge, so I clothing haul from the past month will be up soon. I will also work on the post about ways to wear a square scarf very soon; Fall won't last forever. Alright, that's all for now. Thanks for reading!
